Stainless Steel Weld Materials

High-tensile, corrosion- and heat-resistant joining and cladding of stainless steel.

Weld Mold® 2209

Used for welding duplex and super duplex stainless steels that contain approximately 22% chromium. 2209 is also used for joining and overlay of steel used in chloride environments such as oil & gas industry, chemical processing and brackish water applications.
Specification: AWS-E2209
Available forms: FCAW, GTAW

Weld Mold ® 2553

This electrode is primarily used for welding duplex stainless steels, which contain approximately 2 – 5% chromium. Suited for offshore oil fields. Also used on Ferralium 255.
Specification: AWS E-2553
Available forms: GMAW

Weld Mold® 305

Recommended for welding 630 type stainless steel (17/4PH). Uses include joining 17/4, 15/5 and 17/7 PH grade stainless steels to themselves or dissimilar combinations. Uses include various marine and aerospace applications, pump parts, bolts, shafts and flexible bellows.
Specification: AWS-E630
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold ® 308

Recommended for welding types 201, 202, 301, 302, 304, 305 and 308 stainless steels. This alloy provides moderate resistance to general corrosion. Uses include the joining of dairy, brewery, restaurant and chemical equipment.
Specification: AWS-E308
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold® 309

Recommended for welding heat-resistant type 309 stainless steel. Also for joining types 405, 410, 430, 442, 446 when pre and post heat treatment is not practical. This alloy is also used to join mild or carbon steels to stainless steel. Uses include fabricating heat-treating baskets, furnace parts and kiln linings.
Specification: AWS-E309
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold ® 310

Recommended for welding base metals of a similar composition. This alloy is also used to weld types 309, 311, 314 and 446 stainless steel alloys as well as dissimilar metals such as high-carbon steel, stainless armor clad and air-hardening types 405, 410 and 430. Uses include fabrication of high-pressure boiler tubes, overlays and casting repair.
Specification: AWS-E310
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold® 312

Recommended for welding type 312 stainless steel. Also for welding mild, high-strength and high-yield steels to stainless steel, plus numerous dissimilar combinations. Uses include general fabrication of analogous materials, tool repair and work-hardening underlays prior to hard-facing.
Specification: AWS-E312
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold ® 316

Recommended for welding type 316 stainless steel and other alloys requiring high-temperature service. The addition of molybdenum reduces pitting by some acids and enhances elevated-temperature properties. Uses include fabrication and cladding in the petroleum, paper and chemical industries for piping, pulp digestors, tanks and vats.
Specification: AWS-E316
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold® 330

For welding cast or wrought forms of type 330 stainless steel with excellent heat and creep resistance. Uses include the fabrication and repair of heat-treating equipment, furnace components and many other high-temperature applications.
Specification: AWS-E330
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold ® 3315

For superior galling and wear resistance. Its corrosion and pitting resistance is better than 304 and 316 types stainless. It also provides excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and low temperature impact resistance.
Specification: AWS E-3315
Available forms: SMAW

Weld Mold® 3320

For fabricating Carpenter® 20 and 20CB-3. This alloy offers superior resistance to high temperatures and chemical corrosion.
Specification: AWS-E320
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold ® 420

A 13% chromium martensitic stainless alloy for welding 420 stainless and for cladding low-alloy steels for resistance to corrosion, wear, oxidation and erosion. A universal alloy for cladding and hard-facing many types of steel-mill rolls and components as well as plastic molds and die-casting dies. Pre and post heat treatment is recommended.
Specification: AWS-E420
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW

Weld Mold® 430

17% chromium stainless steel alloy for welding 430 stainless and for cladding low-alloy steels for resistance to corrosion, oxidation and wear. Uses include the hard-facing of steel mill rolls. Also overlays of gas, water, and steam valves subject to service temperatures of up to 850F. Pre and post heat treatment recommended.
Specification: AWS E-430
Available forms: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW
